Biography

Shaykh Idris Nawaz is an Islamic Studies student, scholar, instructor, and researcher, committed to integrating Islamic philosophy, epistemology, and worldview into contemporary education and academic discourse. His mission is to reframe the Islamic tradition to address modern ideological and spiritual challenges of our era, particularly for Muslim communities in the West. Shaykh Idris memorized the Qur'an by the age of 10 under the instruction of Qari AbdelKarim Edgouch, and in 2015, at just 12 years old, he earned first place at the Tijan Annour International Qur'an Competition in Doha, Qatar. He began his ʿĀlimiyyah studies at the age of 13 at the Michigan Islamic Institute, later completing them at Jāmiʿah Binoria University in Pakistan. There, he earned a Master's degree in Sharīʿah and a second Master's (Takhassus) in Ḥadīth Studies with high distinction. His Master's thesis was entitled, "al-Imām Yaḥya b. Ma'īn wa Ta 'āruḍh Aqwālihī Jarḥan wa Ta'dīlan." He also served as a lecturer and obtained a diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). He is currently pursuing his PhD in Islamic Thought and Philosophy at the International Islamic University of Malaysia, with a research focus on integrating Islamic epistemology with modern education. He serves as an instructor at Miftaah Institute and a research fellow at Darul Qasim College. He regularly conducts programs and seminars across the United States, and has taught modules on Arabic, Islamic philosophy, modernity and modern ideologies, Ḥadīth Sciences, Tazkiyah, and polemics.
